- Description
- The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, Tacoma, WA intends to negotiate a commercial (FAR Part 12) sole source contract under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The VA intends to award a contract for the Precision Full service software and hardware technical support contract on the Elekta Synergy Linear Accelerator system. Elekta is the manufacturer and sole distributor of the Elekta Synergy Linear Accelerators. Elekta is the only manufacturer authorized to service and perform preventive maintenance on the Elekta Linear Accelerator in the Pacific Northwest. All Elekta service engineers are factory trained to maintain and perform preventive maintenance on Elekta equipment. The manufacturer has the licenses to the software of the linear accelerator. Elekta Inc has the unique ability and knowledge to be able to support the Synergy System and all its critical hardware and software on station and remotely. There are no known vendors that can provide this support. A justification for other than full and open competition is prepared in support of this acquisition. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
