- The proposed project is called Construction Services to Widen and Improve Portions of the Main East Access Corridor (Wilson Road) at Fort Knox, KY. Wilson Road will be expanded to a minimum of four - 11 feet wide lanes from Eleventh Avenue to Eisenhower Avenue. This work will complete the portion of Wilson Road construction not constructed in the Phase I project. The existing pavement will be milled and overlaid or widened to accommodate the additional lane widths. Curb and gutter will be provided. Associated with the curb and gutter construction, a storm sewer system will be installed. The project also includes underground communication utility relocation from Eleventh Avenue to Eisenhower, and other minor water and sanitary utility relocation needed for the road expansion. At 9th Cavalry Regiment Road, the north bound (NB) direction will get an auxiliary right turn lane. No auxiliary lanes will be installed for the south bound (SB) approach. At Spearhead Division Road, the roadway will be widened to accommodate two thru lanes in the northbound and southbound directions. NB will have a left turn lane, and two thru lanes. SB will have a left turn lane, two thru lanes, and a right turn lane. The new ramp from Wilson NB to Spearhead EB has been accommodated in the re-design. At Eisenhower, the roadway will have the same lane configuration as current conditions. NB will have an auxiliary right turn lane, a left turn lane, and a single thru lane. The existing NB right turn lane will be improved with this project. The estimated price range is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. The solicitation is set aside for HUBZone contractors only. The NAICS code for this project is 237310. Size Standard is $33.5 Million. Contract duration is approximately 480 calendar days. The solicitation is a design-bid-build procurement utilizing the sealed bid process. The approximate issue date for the solicitation will be 21 September 2010 with an approximate closing date of 21 October 2010.
