Description

Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS), as a prime contractor to the U.S. Department of Energy, is seeking businesses to provide a concrete drilling service for Hanford single-shell tanks (SSTs). Hanford Single Shell Tanks are underground reinforced concrete structures used to store radioactive waste, and are constructed as a cylindrical, reinforced concrete shell with a domed roof and "dished" bottom. The future installation of large riser assemblies will require a forty-seven inch opening in the dome on respective tanks to accommodate large risers. Note: Cutting a hole of this magnitude in a tank dome carries a substantial amount of risk to the environment and those performing the work. The scope of the work to be performed includes demonstrations of cutting large diameter holes (Approximately 55") in simulated tank domes at the Hanford facility in Richland, WA.
