Description
This is a Sources Sought Notice. This notice is a mechanism for obtaining feedback from industry in regard to the below requirement. This is a market research tool to determine potential sources for the below requirement. The US Army RDECOM Contracting Center is seeking interest from potential sources for the below requirement. It is also requested that sources please provide questions, comments and feedback on the below requirement. If responding with an EQUAL item, please specify how the EQUAL item meets ALL of the salient characteristics listed below. REQUIREMENTS: The purpose of this Sources Sought is to obtain subsystems to interface with Xenonics NightHunter 3 Ultra high intensity multi-purpose illuminations system which is in the current Government inventory ( Xenonics NH3-400 Weapons Mount Tactical Package). The NH3-400 allows soldiers to mount the NightHunter 3 directly to a crew-served weapon, and use the system as mobile handheld device. The government requires approximately 238 commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) Xenonics NightHunter 3 Shield Mount Upgrade Kits (Xenonics P/N NH3-6100) or EQUAL that must interface with the current Government Inventory of Xenonics NightHunter 3 from the NH3-400 Weapons Mount Tactical Package. Both the NH3-400 and NH3-6100 have passed all testing by the US Army and are recommended by PEO Soldier. These Shield Mount Upgrade Kits include the following Brand Name Parts : NH3-6650 NightHunter 3 Shield Mount NH3-2001 Remote/Power Cable NH3-2002 Detachable Remote Spade Grip NH3-2004 Detachable Remote -- Tape Switch NHX-6653 Waterproof BA-5590 Case with Adapter Waterproof Carrying Case The Salient Characteristics of the above Brand Name parts are as follows: The NightHunter 3 Shield Mount Upgrade Kit allows the user to mount the NightHunter 3 to the Objective Gunner Protective Kit (OGPK) or other similar shields & surfaces. The Mount secures the NightHunter 3 with a quick-release clamp and provides the capability to pan and tilt the system, to illuminate targets, or to illuminate or project force away from the weapon. The Kit also includes a watertight case with magnetic mounts for holding and mounting a BA5590 battery on the turret or shield. All components are packaged in a foam-fitted watertight case for storage and transport. Power and remote activation cables, specifically designed to connect to the NightHunter 3, are included. The NightHunter 3 Shield Mount Upgrade Kit includes the NightHunter 3 Shield Mount, Remote/Power Cable, Detachable Remote Spade Grip, Detachable Remote Tape Switch, Waterproof BA5590 Case & Waterproof Storage Case. The Rapid Equipping Force (REF) also has a need for 291 NighHunter 3 Battery Packs (Xenonics P/N NH3-6229 or equal) which interface with the Xenonics NightHunter 3 ultra-high intensity multi-purpose illumination system. Salient Characteristics are as follows: The NightHunter 3 rechargeable battery will provide 120 minutes of continuous use. The battery is comprised of six (6) Lithium Ion 18650 cells with protection circuitry, packaged to slide easily in and out of the NightHunter 3. The battery pack provides an overall capacity of 5.2 AH at 11.1 VDC. The battery can be charged in 2.5 hours or less after a full discharge and is rated for 500 charging cycles. The Rapid Equipping Force (REF) also has a need for 311 NightHunter Replacement Lamp Modules (Xenonics P/N NHX-6230 or equal/ NSN 6240-01-532-2283) which interface with the Xenonics NightHunter 3 ultra-high intensity multi-purpose illumination system. Salient characteristics are as follows: The Replacement Lamp Module is comprised of a Xenonics 25W xenon short arc lamp permanently mounted in a proprietary ceramic base that is factory-aligned and requires no adjustment. Lamps are rated for 500 hours of use. The Replacement Lamp Module is the fits both Xenonics NightHunter II & NightHunter 3. NOTE: This notice is issued for the purpose of determining market capability of sources and does not constitute an Invitation for Bid (IFB), a Request for Proposal (RFP), a Request for Quote (RFQ) or an indication that the Government will contract for any of the items and/or services contained in this notice. All information received in response to this notice that is marked Proprietary will be handled accordingly. Responses may not include classified material. Responses to this notice will not be returned. All of the responses will remain confidential. Availability of any formal solicitation will be announced under a separate pre-solicitation notice through Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps).
