Description
The Social Security wishes to identify vendors who are interested in providing services of a Regional Medical Advisor, described briefly below. This is not a soliciation, but a market survey. Interested parties should email Linda.Shaw@ssa.gov stating their interest and a brief statement of their qualifications (no longer than one page), and state whether they are a small business (under $10M per year). The Social Security Administration (SSA) utilizes the services of licensed contract physicians, psychologists, and other professional health care providers to make informed decisions on disability policy and individual disability cases. They also help SSA craft policies and practices that reflect current knowledge of the professional health care community. In the capacity of the Regional Medical Advisor (RMA), the contractor will serve as a principal technical consultant to the SSA Regional Office in the medical aspects of the disability program. The contractor will combine clinical medical knowledge with administrative, interpersonal, and teaching skills to identify and assist in the resolution of issues or problems arising in the SSA disability program. The primary services performed by the contractor include: •· quality assurance reviews of case review work performed by Regional Medical Consultants (RMCs) or Disability Determination Service Medical Consultants (DDS MCs); •· independent case reviews; and •· a broad range of medical consulting services. The contractor will perform most case processing at a computer terminal. Medical records and case folder documentation are viewed, processed, and stored electronically. The contractor must interact with disability reviewers, adjudicators, medical providers, and RMCs. The contractor will have no contact with the claimant nor will he/she have clinical responsibility. Services must be performed at 701 Fifth Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104-7075.
