This notice is an invitation to all interested suppliers to attend a conference on a new innovative approach to the acquisition of the Fastener commodities managed by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Aviation Supplier Operations at Philadelphia. These include FSCs 5305 thru 5325. DLA Aviation Philadelphia is seeking additional information to improve overall support of our Fastener commodities acquisition and logistics mission. Presently, DLA Aviation uses a multitude of sources, storage facilities and delivery methods to satisfy its customers' worldwide demand for fastener products. It is DLA Aviation's intention to leverage the commercial industry's best practices and implement a solution which assures readiness, safety, and efficiency. Ultimately, DLA Aviation's goal is to improve lead-times, reduce costs, and increase customer satisfaction while allowing the customers to focus on their core competencies. In April 2010, an Aerospace Fastener Market Research Workshop was held in Philadelphia. Many ideas were presented and all were considered. This conference is a follow-up to that workshop. At this conference, key speakers plan to present a new acquisition approach to support our Fastener commodities. Candid discussion of the issues will be welcomed.
