Description
This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at https://www.neco.navy.mil/. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the Internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD). NSWCCD Philadelphia is currently looking for sources that furnish/provide gas turbine electric starter and generator systems for U.S. Navy gas turbines. The system must be capable of starting the engine, and generate and store power to accomplish five starts. Means of storing power shall be part of the package. Turbine engine models include the GE LM2500 and the RR 501K-34 marine engines. Engines may achieve speeds up to 14340 rpm. Starter torque during normal operation may be as high as 600 ft/lb. The ambient operating temperature (surrounding the starter during operation) is approximately 200 °F. Mounting location of the starter/generator is the engine's gearbox. The starter must also be capable of performing other duties such as motoring and water washing. Approximate engine rate of acceleration is 147 RPM/second and the engine starting time shall be 45-55 seconds. The electric starter and generator system must be powered by a 440V, 60 Hz, ungrounded delta system. This sources sought announcement does not constitute an Invitation for Bids (IFB), a Request for Quote (RFQ), or a Request for Proposal (RFP) and it should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the Government to issue a formal solicitation or ultimately award a contract. The U.S. Government is in no way liable to pay for or reimburse any companies or entities that respond to this announcement. Any costs incurred by interested companies in response to this announcement or incurred for participation in the pre-solicitation conference will NOT be reimbursed. Any information provided that is marked as proprietary information will be safeguarded to prevent disclosures to non-government personnel and entities. This announcement does not commit the Government to the award of a contract. Please reference the above solicitation number when responding to this notice.
