- DESCRIPTION: The US Army Contracting Command, JM&L Contracting Center onbehalf of The Project Manager for Maneuver Ammunition System (PM-MAS) isseeking sources for the 9mm Marking Cartridges (for use in the M9 and M11weapons) and/or 5.56mm Rifle Marking Cartridges (for use in the M14 and M16weapons) and 5.56mm Saw Linked Marking Cartridges (for use in the M249weapon). All marking rounds stated above will be used with the Close CombatMission Capability Kit (CCMCK). The CCMCK is a user installed temporary weaponconversion system that allows the Soldier to employ an individual weaponM9/M11/M14/M16 and M249) at short range using low velocity marking ammunitionwhile precluding the weapon from firing standard service ammunition. Themarking ammunition shall be a reduced-energy, non-lethal cartridge that leavesa bright, water-soluble color marking compound on target upon impact. Thevisible impact left by the marking compound allows for an accurate assessmentof simulated lethality and shot placement. SPECIFICATION: The ammunition must be compatible with the current US Armyqualified CCMCK weapon conversion system. No additional weapon conversions ormodifications outside of the current CCMCK system will be allowed. Interestedsources without a previously verified design will be responsible for verifyingtheir cartridge design in accordance with the Government purchase descriptionat their own expense. A purchase description will be released upon request.Sources interested in supplying the marking ammunition should adequatelydescribe their experience in small caliber production and testing,demonstrated high rate production, annual production capacity, and verification status of their proposed design. Those sources not having apreviously verified design should also submit a rough outline of their plansand schedule to verify their design and shall submit any backup data tosupport claims that their design will conform to the purchase descriptionrequirements. Sources shall provide verification status of the markingammunition cartridges that will be supplied under this contract. PLANNED ACQUISITION: At this time, the Government is only seeking to identifycapable sources. SUBMISSION INFORMATION: For Further Information - All interested partiesshould submit a description of their capabilities along with sketches,drawings, specifications, brochures, current estimated unit cost per million,monthly production capability, and/or test results within 30 days of thisnotice to: US Army JM&L LCMC, CCJM-MA, Anthony Aurillo, Bldg 10, PicatinnyArsenal, NJ 07806-5000 or by email to: anthony.aurillo@us.army.mil. This is amarket survey, not a pre-solicitation notice. If a formal solicitation isgenerated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published.
