- NASA/GSFC is hereby soliciting information about potential sources for the creationof scientific visualizations and visualization systems in collaboration with researchersand outreach personnel at the Goddard Space Flight Center. This RFI is to solicitspecific capability information from industry on data visualization and computer graphicsservices for assessment to ensure that the best and widest possible set of capabilitiesis considered for the upcoming solicitation.It is anticipated that NASA GSFC will proceed with a future procurement for visualizationservices and systems development and anticipates award of a services contract.GSFC isseeking capabilities from all potential sources for the purpose of determining theappropriate level of competition. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request acopy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized inFedBizOpps and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offerorsresponsibility to monitor these sites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis.Interested organizations are invited to submit to the NASA point of contact listed belowa description of their capability to provide personnel to create very high quality datavisualizations of Earth and space science data using an Autodesk Maya and Pixar RenderManbased system on a Linux cluster of file servers, render servers, and desktop systems atthe Goddard Space Flight Center. Knowledge of Earth and space data archives and formatsare required, as well as the ability to access such data and translate it to a formcompatible with the system described above. In addition, a description of a capabilityto create interactive visualization software and Linux cluster-based visualizationsystems is requested. This RFI submittal should also describe the organization'sexperience and past performance in the areas of high quality scientific datavisualization and interactive visualization systems.Interested offerors/vendors having the required specialized capabilities to meet theabove requirement should submit a capability statement of 4 pages or less indicating theability to perform all aspects of the effort described herein.Responses must include the following: name and address of firm, size of business;average annual revenue for past 3 years and number of employees; ownership; whether theyare large, small, small disadvantaged, 8(a), HUBZone, and/or woman-owned; number of yearsin business; affiliate information: parent company, joint venture partners, potentialteaming partners, prime contractor (if potential sub) or subcontractors (if potentialprime); list of customers covering the past five years (highlight relevant workperformed, contract numbers, contract type, dollar value of each procurement; and pointof contact - address and phone number). A commercial item is definedin FAR 2.101.This request for information is for information and planning purposes and is not to beconstrued as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for informationsolicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemed fully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation forthe requirement. The Government reserves the right to consider a small business or 8(a) set-aside based onresponses hereto.
