Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation No. W81EWF-0293-2457 is being issued as a Request For Quote (RFQ) with the intent to award as a simplified acquisition. The solicitation will be competed on an Un-Restricted basis. The solicitation document and incorporated provision and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-46. The NAICS Code for this procurement is 334519 (SIC 3823) with a size standard of 500 employees. The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) at Waterways Experiment Station (WES), Vicksburg, MS, Environmental Laboratory has a requirement for the following: The US Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) needs to purchase a Thermal Cycler with four independent thermal cycling bays equipped with 96-well blocks that are interchangeable with 384-well blocks and dual block formats and should have the capability of running up to eight independent protocols at once. This technology will be used to rapidly amplify DNA while greatly increasing the quantity and quality of data used to identify invasive species. Due to laboratory space limitations, the system should be compact. These studies are required for ongoing civilian and reimbursable work units that focus on the early detection of invasive species from waterways. SPECIFICATIONS: Efficiency requirements: 1. Maximum temperature or thermal ramp times that are at LEAST 6 degrees Celsius per second. Ramp times must be adjustable (user-selectable). 2. A minimum of 4 96-well thermal blocks, heads, or individual units that can operate simultaneously. 3. Blocks or units that share a programmable control interface or that can be linked together to run the same thermal-cycle program. 4. Gradient temperature range across blocks of up 24 degrees Celsius. Quality requirements: 1. A system that permits less than 5% evaporation from any well in a PCR plate, including corner wells. 2.
