- Description
- The Federal Aviation Administration, Central Service Area intends to enter into a single source procurement with Evans Consoles to design, fabricate and supply a new console system for the cab of the Airport Traffic Control Tower on Eppley Airfield, in Omaha, NE (OMA ATCT). Vendor will be responsible for the complete console system design including base cabinets, framing, structural mounts and various equipment arms. The system shall allow for CPU storage and include slide-out drawers, cable management, power conduits, lighting, grounding while configuring to the intended cab layout. Services will include development, coordination, planning, engineering, determination of compatibility with the current cab structure design,compatibility with the proposed electronics equipment, consideration of human factor criteria, prototype evaluation, cost estimating and installation. Vendor shall have licensed professional engineers on staff to ensure the safety and functionality of components being designed in compliance with applicable codes; be ISO 9001 certified and a full manufacturer of product including all design services, metalwork, woodwork and millwork to ensure product consistency and lead times. The frame and stringer material extrusions shall be aluminum and be alloy and temper compliant with 6063-T54, have a 30 KSI yield strength and 30 KSI ultimate strength. The vertical column extrusions metal used for structural components shall be cold rolled steel (CRS). Sheet metal parts shall be produced on CNC machines to ensure precision with Side inserts and Rear Frame columns at 14 gauge C.R.S., Rear Door Columns at 16 gauge C.R.S. and Corner Modules at 14 and 16 gauge C.R.S. All slat wall mounts shall be easy to mount either with or without tools. Final equipment mounts shall be optional hard mounted to slat wall rails or have the capability to be moved horizontally along the length of the slat wall extrusion. All of the equipment mounted above the base frame shall attach to the slat wall system without drilling or modification. All components mounted to this system shall have a quick release feature to allow quick equipment replacement with full cable management and minimum impact to the operator. Loading requirements shall be: 1) fixed shelves - 200 lbs, 2) door mounted shelves - 40 lbs, 3) slide-out CPU shelves shall 100 lbs, 4) individual slat wall mounting locations - 250 lb with offset load. Heavy monitor mounts shall carry loads from 30 lb to 200 lb equipment. The mount shall adjust side-to-side (swivel), tilt and forward - back (focal) with gas pistons assistance. The heavy duty mounts shall have a piston lock for touch screen interactions without the system moving. Vendor responsible for a portion of the console installation and shall have a minimum of 10 years of console installation experience and expertise. Vendor will be required to work in occupied space during low traffic hours of operation. Any interruption to Air Traffic operation will cause economic hardship for the airlines and a major inconvenience to the flying public. The FAA cannot tolerate any unnecessary risk/accidental outage at this Airport. The timing of this project must align with an ongoing electronics equipment replacement project at Midway. The console replacement project will occur in a live, operational environment and must be completed in four months or less. Targeted completion date is currently April 2011.
