- The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has awarded a cost plus fixed fee delivery order to The Boeing Company, St. Louis, MO for efforts under the Service Life Assessment Program (SLAP) Phase B, Subsystems in support of the F/A 18 E/F program. This acquisition was pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority of Title 10, U.S.C. Section 2304(c)(1), as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, 'Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.' A determination by the Government not to compete this effort is solely within the discretion of the Government. GENERAL INFORMATION: The Boeing Company is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the F/A 18 E/F aircraft and is the only known qualified, responsible source that possesses the necessary knowledge, experience, and technical data required to fulfill the requirements specified.
