Description
NASA/KSC has a requirement for Detector Electronics Corporation (Det-tronics)hydrogen leak detectors and mid-infrared (MIR) hydrogen fire detectors as follows: Item 1) X3302A4N13W2 IR FD, MFPN: 009012-002, (Qty 52)Item 2) Aluminum 3/4 NPT Stop Plug, MFPN: 101197-001, (Qty 400)Item 3) Junction Box, 5 port, Aluminum, MFPN: 006264-029,(Qty 50)Item 4) Q9033A1000 Swivel Assembly, Aluminum, MFPN: 007290-002,(Qty 52)Item 5) CGSS1A6C2R1X, 3/4 NPT, 6' Lead, Bead, MFPN: 006824-001,(Qty 100)Item 6) UD10A5N25W2C FlexVU CGS Transmitter, MFPN: 010254-002, Qty 45)Item 7) Dust Cover, MFPN: 225312-001,(Qty 100)NASA/KSC intends to purchase Det-tronics hydrogen leak detectors and mid-infraredhydrogen fire detectors. Det-tronics hydrogen leak detectors and mid-infrared hydrogenfire detectors have been installed at the launch pads and mobile launch platforms forover twenty years. These detectors have been qualified through an extensive ShuttleGround Support Equipment Transducer Qualification review process and are approved for useas ground support equipment. Conducting qualification testing on products from othersources would require significant time and cost. Continued use of Det-tronics detectorsenables the re-use of spares that will become available after the Space Shuttle Programtermination. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:30 p.m. local timeon Thursday, February 03, 2011. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluatedsolely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on acompetitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed efforton a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solelywithin the discretion of the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.
