- Description
- Lithium Battery Technology The Army Contracting Command (ACC) Contracting Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000 is conducting a Market Survey on behalf of the Joint Program Manager for the Lightweight 155mm Howitzer (JPMO-LW155) and RDECOM-ARDEC to identify battery technology capable of meeting the environmental and space claim requirements of the M777A2 Lightweight Towed Howitzer. Description: This Sources Sought is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or an obligation on the part of JPMO-LW155 or RDECOM-ARDEC. The purpose of this Sources Sought is to identify qualified vendors that have qualified battery designs that are capable of meeting the following requirements: -Electrical oVoltage: 24 volt (nominal) oCapacity: 100 Ahr (minimum) oCharge/Discharge Cycles: 2000 (minimum) oCharge rate: 20-25A (minimum) oDischarge Rate: 20-30A (continuous) oDischarge Rate: 200A for 60s (pulsed Short Circuit protection (embedded) o-Environmental oGun Fire Shock (50-100 Gs in all directions, half-sign wave, TBD Hz) oTransportation Vibration (two wheeled trailer, highway, secondary, cross country, air cargo (jet and propeller), rail, and shipboard) oOperating Temperature - 25 to + 131 degrees F oSubmersible to 60 inches for 30 minutes. -Physical oWeight: 90 lbs (nominal) oDimensions (maximum): 28" x 11.5" x 5.5" -Safety oIATA Dangerous Good Regulations (i.e UN3090 testing ) compliant oAir Transportable -Schedule oPrototype available in 120 days oFull Rate Production 365 days after prototype This battery design is being sought to support a power system upgrade to the M777A2 howitzer. Approximately 1,000 M777A2 howitzers will be retrofitted and spares will be required for the next 7 to 10 years. In addition to lithium ion technology, information pertaining to all other battery technologies capable of meeting the above performance and schedule requirements should be submitted. All submissions will need to verify safe operations of the proposed technology in all environments. In addition, submissions of battery designs that are not fully compliant with all requirements are encouraged so that JPMO-LW155 and RDECOM-ARDEC may assess the capabilities of all currently available battery technologies. As a result of this Sources Sought a Request For Proposal (RFP) may be issued to develop a fully compliant battery. A full specification will be released if and when there is follow on procurement activity. All interested sources are encouraged to submit their abilities/capabilities no later than 15 days from date of this publication to: Miss Christie Vicci, CCJM-ET Bldg. 322, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000; email: Christie.vicci@us.army.mil. Please include company name, address, telephone number, point of contact, brochures/literature, etc., and any prior performance relating to this requirement. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION AND DOES NOT OBLIGATE THE GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION. Please be advised that the government will not pay for any information submitted under this announcement. Electronic submittals are preferred.
