- Introduction. The Coast Guard Academy grounds consist of approximately 22 acres of treatable grassy area which include a parade field, athletic competition fields, athletic practice fields and other lawn areas. The contractor shall furnish all labor, material, equipment, transportation and supervision for the application of weed control, insect control and fertilizer to present a clean, neat and professional appearance in accordance with the PWS. 2. Scope of Services. The contractor shall perform an integrated lawn care/weed control treatment program that provides for a rate of application based on 22 acres for each of the following applications: Application 1 - To be applied between 1-15April and consist of: (1) Balanced granular fertilizer applied at ½ lb. of Nitrogen per thousand square feet; (2) Broad Leaf Weed control (liquid, applied to all weeds as needed); and (3) Pre emergent crabgrass control applied at label rate to control crabgrass, oxalis, spurge, etc. Application 2 - To be applied between 15-30 May and consist of: (1) Slow release granular fertilizer applied at ½ lb of Nitrogen per thousand square feet; (2) Merit grub control applied in accordance with manufacturer's specification; and (3) Broad Leaf Weed control (liquid, applied to all weeds as needed) Application 3 - To be applied between 1-15 July and consist of: (1) Slow release granular fertilizer applied at ½ lb. of Nitrogen per thousand square feet; and (2) Broad Leaf Weed control (liquid, applied to all weeds as needed) Application 4 - To be applied between 1-15 September and consist of: (1) Heavy rate of balanced granular fertilizer with increased Potassium and Phosphorous rates, to be applied at 1 lb of Nitrogen per thousand square feet; and (2) Broad Leaf Weed control (liquid, applied to all weeds as needed) Application 5 - To be applied between 1-15 November and consist of: (1) Selective granular Winter Fertilizer with increased Potassium and Phosphorous rates, to be applied at 1 lb. of Nitrogen per thousand square feet.
