- This is a Source Sought Synopsis. This synopsis neither constitutes a Request for Quotation, nor does it restrict the government from an ultimate acquisition approach. This synopsis should not be construed as a commitment by the government for any purpose. Requests for solicitation will not receive a response. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the U. S. Government. The U. S. Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any input as a result of this market survey. The U. S. Government is not obligated to notify respondents of this survey. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. No award will made as a result of this market survey. The Indian Head Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center is seeking potential sources, pricing and scheduling for the disassembly and disposal of the Van De Graaff X-Ray Machine AR2500, Serial Number AR2444 High Voltage Model, from the Yorktown Detachment, NSWC. All responding sources must email their response submissions no later than 28 February 2011. The Contractor shall be responsible for the removal of the x-ray tube. In general this includes the following: 1.Disassembly and removal of the outer pressure tube tank from the x-ray machine shown in Figure 1. 2.Dropping the Lead Beam Defining Pot. 3.Removing the water lines and water jacket. 4.Removing the magnetic shield. 5.Removing the connecting ring. 6.Inserting the Spring Deflector. 7.Inserting the Insertion tool. 8.Removing the x-ray tube from the tube channel. The contractor is also responsible for the disposal of the removed x-ray tube and two spare x-ray tubes. Each x-ray tube contains Barium and needs to be disposed of in accordance with local environmental regulations. Finally, the contractor shall be responsible for the disassembly of the operating console and removing the x-ray machine from its mounted configuration in the operating building (with assistance from the local Public Works Shop). The disassembly and disposal is required by 30 May 2011. All interested sources shall provide a summary of their company ™s capabilities including organization name, address, capability, personnel, and past experience. It is also required to provide a point of contact, phone number, fax number, e-mail address, business size, taxpayer identification number, DUNS number, and CAGE Code.
