Description
This is a Sources Sought Synopsis; there is no solicitation available at this time. Requests for a solicitation will receive no response. This Sources Sought Synopsis is published for market research purposes only, to identify potential sources capable of delivering the following requirement: Meet or exceed the following specifications to purchase one (1) each new 5-Axis Vertical Machining Center with CNC controller and available options. 1). Machine working area and capabilities; Travels - X axis 60 inches, Y axis 26 inches, Z axis 24 inches with 4th axis 90 degree +/- swivel head and 5th axis rotary table. High speed 12,000 RPM spindle, factory installed X, Y & Z linear glass scales with state of the art servo, motor & drives and heaver ball-screws. A 40 position tool magazine for CAT 40 tool holders with retention knobs and communication plug for indexer. Plus a $3,000.00 tooling of our choice allowance. 2). CNC controller capabilities and optional software; CNC controller that simplifies setups and simplifies programming to machine 5 Axis complex parts and compatible with multiple CAM programs. With advanced 3-D verification of graphics, touch screen graphics, dual 12inch color LCD screens with windows networking, 2GB RAM memory, USB port. Tool center point management, tool & material library, transfer part zero, auto interrupt cycle, utilipocket with helical ramp entry & insert pockets option, swept surface 3-D mold to reduce programming time of complex multi-sided parts or 4 axis works, 4th axis wrap, solid rendering, select surface quality (SFQ), NC/Conversational merges option. With DXF transfer, tool probing, part probing, industry standard NC (ISNC), NC productivity package (NCPP), desktop, and utilinet LAN interface capabilities. 3). Freight, rigging and machine installation included with vibration dampening support pads and standard industry warranties. Initial 4th and 5th axis training provided at our location and additional unlimited local training on current controls. Trade in allowance for Fryer MB10 3 axis CNC milling machine serial number 10053 which includes the rigging and freight of its removal. On-site work will be required to be performed on-site at Wright-Patterson AFB OH as specified by task requirements. The requirement is located at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. A draft Performance Work Statement (PWS) is attached; this is only a draft and in no way should be construed as a request for proposal. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 333120. In response to this notice, offerors shall submit a capability statement consisting of the evidence that the required service, as outlined in the attached PWS can be accomplished successfully by the offeror. Offerors shall include evidence of technical expertise and financial capability. Capability packages are not to exceed 15 pages. Advertising or marketing information is NOT appropriate. The responses to this synopsis will be used for a market survey analysis to determine if the contemplated acquisition will be conducted under full and open competition or as a set-aside under small business set-aside or 8(a) procedures. This sources sought synopsis is not a request for proposals; it is a market research tool being utilized to determine the availability and adequacy of potential sources prior to issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP). Any information submitted by respondents to this synopsis is strictly voluntary. The Government will not pay for any information that is submitted by respondents to this sources sought request. Contractors who believe they possess the required expertise and experience shall submit two copies of their technical capabilities in writing Daniel W. Responses must be received not later than 1600 EST, 2 February 2011. All documentation shall become the property of the Government. Firms responding must indicate the following information: Eligibility to the 8(a) program. Indicate the business size: small business or small disadvantaged business, veteran owned small business or HUBZone certified, and indicate the appropriate NAICS code. This synopsis neither constitutes a Request for Proposal, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach. This synopsis should not be construed as commitment by the Government for any purpose other than market research.
