Description

Notice of Intent to Sole Source The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 18, in accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1 (only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Athena Diagnostics, Inc. (Athena), for genetic tests that are for the following: Automsomal Dominant Ataxia, Neoencephalitis Profile, Huntingtons, and ApoE Genotype Analysis. Athena is the only company that holds patents for the abovementioned tests, which the NMVAHCS Laboratory has deemed essential in order to provide quality patient care. The Contractor shall fax results, and mail a hard-copy to the NMVAHCS Laboratory located 1501 San Pedro Dr SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108 for the period from the date of award through January 31, 2012 with four additional one-year options. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available. A determination not to compete is solely within the discretion of the Government. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government. To be eligible for consideration, contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration data base at www.ccr.gov. The NAICS Code is 621511, size standard is $13.5 million. Registration is free and potential offerors are encouraged to visit that CCR website and register as soon as possible to avoid delays should they be selected for a contract award. Responses must be received not later than 10:00 am EST on February 10, 2011. No telephone inquiries will be accepted. All responses must either be emailed to matthew.dewane@va.gov or mailed to New Mexico VA Health Care System, Attn: Matthew DeWane (90C), 1501 San Pedro Dr SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
