Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Iowa City VA Medical Center, Iowa City, IA intends to negotiate a sole source procurement under the authority of FAR 6.302.1, with Veterans on the Lake Resort, 161 Fernberg Rd, Ely, MN 55731, to procure services for 2011 Castaway Disability Event. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is VA-263-11-RQ-0176 and issued as a request for quote (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-47, effective 12/13/10. The associated NAICS code is 721110 and small business size standard is $7.0M. The acquisition is not set-aside and is being negotiated as a sole source procurement. Following is the Statement of Work for the 2011 Castaway Disability Fishing Event: The event is a week long fishing trip requiring ADA facilities for 75 - 80 participants and caretakers. The trip includes lodging, food, and special facilities to get disabled veterans with a multitude of different injuries in boats and on the water to fish. The event uses between 20 - 25 accessible cabins depending on the needs of the veteran participants attending. Cabins will be rented from Saturday, June 11 to Saturday, June 18, 2011. Meals will be provided by resort starting Saturday evening, June 11, 2011. June 11, 2011 - Saturday evening meal. June 12 - 14, 2011 - Sunday - Tuesday - breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals. June 15, 2011 - Wednesday - breakfast and lunch. Dinner on June 15, 2011 will be provided by the staff of the Castaway Disability Event. June 16 - 17, 2011 - Thursday - Friday - breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals. June 18, 2011 - Saturday - breakfast meal only. NOTE: All meals will be hot meals served in resort dining area and all lunch meals will be a sack lunch. Event will also rent pontoons and v-bottom boats and motors depending on need of veteran participants (possibly 5 pontoons and 14 v-bottom boats and motors). Bait and gasoline will be provided and purchased through the resort. Resort will also provide ada scooters and carts for transportation back and forth to cabins and resort areas.
