THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT Notice Only. This Sources Sought Notice is intended for the following Socio-economic group ONLY: Service-Disabled Veteran Owned, Veteran-Owned Business, HubZone, Woman- Owned and Small Business. Responses from other than the above mentioned groups will not be considered. The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS) located in San Juan, PR has a requirement to provide data cabling installations services to all VA facilities within Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Island, as follows: San Juan VA Medical Center and Vet Center, Arecibo CBOC and Vet Center, Guayama CBOC, Ponce Outpatient Clinic and Vet Center and Mayaguez Outpatient Clinic, St. Thomas and St. Croix. Services are required for all data cabling needs and Moves/Adds/Changes of the facilities. The cabling standard must be Cat 6 Systimax patch panel in addition to replacing the wall data jack with a Cat 6 type wall-jack to ensure higher speeds to the desktops. The contractor will coordinate with Medical Center IRM staff in completion of each MAC. Installation or replacement of data drops must be punched on mode B. The contractor shall operate under, but not limited, to the following National Codes, telecommunications industry standards and practices: National Electric Code (NEC), Part 800 Article 250, Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI), all standards, Electronic Industries Association/Telecommunications Industry Association EIA/TIA 569 (Standard for telecommunications pathways and spaces requirements), Telecommunications Industry Association/Electronic Industries Association TIA/EIA 568A (Telecommunications cabling standard), ICEA Publications S-80-576-1988, Telecommunications Industry Association/Electronic Industries Association TIA/EIA 607 (Building grounding and bonding requirements), Telecommunications Industry Association/Electronic Industries Association TIA/EIA 606 (Standard for records, labeling and space & pathway administration), Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Part 68, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Underwriters Laboratories (UL). Vendor must provide documentation of qualifications and experience in working with SYSTIMAX CERTIFY SOLUTION. Manufacturer "The products identified in this specification shall be supplied by a single manufacturer. "Preference will be given to racks, cabinets and associated routing pathways provided by the same manufacturer as the cabling system. "Manufacturer shall have a minimum of seven (7) years experience in the manufacture of the specified cabling products and shall be ISO 9001/14000 Certified. Contractor "The contractor selected to provide the installation of this system shall be certified by the manufacturing company in all aspects of design, installation and testing of the products described herein. "The contractor shall utilize the authorized manufacturer components and distribution channels in provisioning this Project. "Contractor shall have a minimum of five (5) years of recent experience on structured cabling systems of similar type and size. "The contractor shall be experienced in all aspects of this work and shall be required to demonstrate direct experience on recent systems of similar type and size. "The contractor shall own and maintain the tools and equipment approved by the cabling system manufacturer for successful installation and testing Category 6 balanced twisted pair distribution systems. "The contractor shall have personnel who are adequately trained in the usage of such tools and equipment. Responses must be received in writing no later than 1600/04:00 p.m. EST on February 10, 2011. This notice will help the VA in determining available potential sources only. All firms responding to this Sources Sought Notice are advised that their response is not a request for proposal therefore will not be considered for a contract award.
