Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO.1 TO THE SOLE SOURCE SYNOPSIS FOR SILICONBASED AVALANCHE PHOTON DETECTOR. The purpose of this amendment is to respond to the following questions.Questions 1:We can deliver SiAPD Modules or the complete detector box or a complete Laser AltimeterInstrument. Are you only interested in purchasing the SiAPD Modules or are you alsointerested in developing a source for the higher-level items?Answer: We are not interested in developing a source for the higher-level item.Questions 2: Are the Perkin-Elmer SiAPD Modules that you mention in the solicitation the C30659series or the C30950EH series?Answer:The PerkinElmer SiAPD modules we wish to procure do not have a part number as they arecustom units to meet NASA requirements. The part number will be assigned after they aredeveloped and tested.Question 3: What is NASAs required timing for delivery of the five (5) test-units, the ten (10)engineering-models, and the twenty (20) flight-models.Answer:The five test units are required by 1 October 2011, upon exercise of Option 1 delivery ofthe 10 engineering models will be required by 1 October 2012, and upon exercise of Option2 delivery of the 20 flight modules will be required by 1 October 2013.Question 4: Is there a maximum number of pages for the response to this solicitation describingcompany capabilities and qualifications? Can you tell us more specifically whatinformation would you like to see in our response?Answer:No requirement on pages for response. Also welcome is a description of experiencedeveloping space-qualified hardware for NASA missions within the past 5 years;description of space flight heritage; a description of core competencies and resources(facilities) in place for fabrication and testing of space qualified hardware;description of quality control measures.The due date for receipt of capabilities and qualifications is not extended beyondFebruary 8, 2011.Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASAAcquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on January 6, 2011. Documents related to thisprocurement are available over the Internet. These documents reside on a World Wide Web(WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
