- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format prescribed in Subpart 12.6 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is N40442-11-T-7303, and it is being issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-48, effective 30 DEC 2010. NAICS code 332811 applies. This is a small business set-aside. Military Sealift Fleet Support Command (MSFSC), Norfolk, VA intends to award a firm fixed price purchase order for USNS Humphreys for the following services: The requested period of performance for the below service is 19-30 March 2011. 1.0 ABSTRACT 1.1 The Port & Stbd Main Engine Reduction Gears shall be open inspected, troubleshoot and groomed. 2.0 REFERENCES/ENCLOSURES 2.1 REFERENCES 2.1.1 NAVSEA DWG. Cincinnati Gear Company Quantity: Two (2) 4.0 GOVERNMENT FURNISHED EQUIPMENT/MATERIAL/SERVICES: None 5.0 NOTES 5.1 Oil vapor is present at all times in the gear boxes and lubrication system therefore, every precaution should be taken against explosion whenever work is done on or around the gear units. 5.2 The reduction gears, shall only be opened in the presence of the Chief Engineer and the MSCREP. 5.3 There are provisions on the Reduction Gear for rotating reduction gear and shafting using and air-motor. 6.0 QUALITITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None Additional. 7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS 7.1 Provide a OEM Representative to troubleshoot and groom port and starboard reduction gear. 7.2 Perform a visual inspection of the PTO journal bearings. Open the Port & Stbd main reduction gear inspection, troubleshoot and groom. The Chief Engineer shall be notified prior to opening and will assign a ship's engineer to monitor the main reduction gears inspection cover openings when opened and/or unlocked. 7.3 Provide condition report of conditions found and recommended repairs required 7.4 Close and seal all inspection openings. 7.5 All dirt and debris resulting from this work item shall be removed from the ship on a daily basis. 8.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS - None Additional.
