- Description
- This is a request for Standard Form 330, not a request for proposal. Provide Professional Architectural Engineering Design services to Replace Exterior Enclosure, Bldg. #200, at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, Hines, Illinois. This contracted work includes preparation of drawings, specifications and cost estimates for all facets of work and trades necessary to facilitate award of a construction contract in order to replace the exterior enclosure of the thirteen (13) Story Tower of Building 200. Work to include, but is not limited to, removal of existing masonry and precast fins, windows, precast panels, precast caps, precast horizontal shades, flashing, louvers and any other items impacted by the replacement of the exterior enclosure. The work will also contain installation of a new enclosure system that may include, but is not limited to, new windows, spandrel panels, enclosure attachments, weather membrane, flashing, interior finish modifications to join to new enclosure, interface details at the top and bottom of the tower with existing conditions, insulation, new enclosure feature elements, innovate sustainable elements and any other items included within the new enclosure design. Asbestos abatement may also be a part of this project, if necessary. The project will be one continuous phase coordinated with the ongoing operations of the hospital. Construction period services, to include site visits during construction, are part of the scope. The A/E will use their experience in exterior enclosure design to accomplish the following VA project requirements: a.New enclosure to provide a new exterior appearance of the Hospital b.Provide a weather tight enclosure. c.Provide an effective thermal enclosure separating the interior conditioned space from the unconditioned exterior to provide improved interior comfort and energy savings (based on life-cycle cost analysis). d.Incorporate innovative sustainable technologies. e.Provide a new modern enclosure that reduces maintenance costs f.Coordinate with other ongoing projects in Building 200. g.New enclosure to minimize impact to existing hospital operations. Estimated construction cost is between $2,000,000- $5,000,000. Area of consideration is restricted to 150 miles of the Hines VA Hospital, Hines, Illinois. Submit two (2) copies of SF 330 with appropriate documentation by close of business March 1, 2011. Selection criteria will be based on: (1) specialized experience and technical competence of the firm (including a joint venture or association) with the type of design required, (2) specific experience and qualifications of personnel proposed for assignment to the project, (3) Maintaining project schedules and project budgets; (4) Knowledge in design and construction requirements; and (5) Cost control effectiveness. No bid packages are available. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP). NAIC #541310 applies. Award is subject to the availability of funds.
