Description
Project 534-09-103, Repair and replacement of a section of the underground domestic water supply system loop to the VA Medical Center. A portion of the cast iron loop has a break/rupture between isolation valves. The exact break/rupture point has not been determined as it is located under pile supported concrete parking deck; that section of the loop has been isolated. Work will involve installing the new water main in the crawl space under the 1st floor suspending it from the concrete floor overhead. The new piping will be tied into the existing outside the buildings footprint and the abandoned services restored to the new line. The Medical Center is currently supplied from the undamaged portion of the supply loop. The water supply system for the medical center runs underground beneath city streets, driveways, sidewalks, and parking lots and is pile supported due to settlement issues. Electronic metering and system monitoring is also included. The existing 10-inch perimeter water loop around the VA Hospital is supported by pilings and pile cap system. In order to reduce the potential differential movement of the existing water system and proposed water system during a seismic event the new water line construction must be supported by pilings and pile cap. New work will consist of the patch/repair of any surfaces affected by the demolition and/or construction to support the new water main. Skill trades required for this project includes mechanical, interior and exterior underground domestic water plumbing, piling, and concrete. Provide construction services to provide a finished project in accordance with the plans and specifications. The Contractor shall complete the construction within 12 months of the notice to proceed. The estimated construction cost is between $1,000,000.00 and $2,000,000.00. Consideration is limited to Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses, and the solicitation will be issued using the Sealed Bid Process. The bids shall be hand delivered or mailed to the Ralph H. Johnson VAMC, 109 Bee Street, Charleston, SC 29401-5799. All bids must be received at the time and date of the bid opening or before. The NAICS Code for this requirement is 238220 and the Small Business Size Standard is $14 Million. This notice is issued subject to the availability of funds and is not a request for proposal. The solicitation will be issued on the Federal Business Opportunities Website.
