- The Southern Regional Contracting Office intends to issue a solicitation to purchase a CO2 Laser System to be used in the operating room in support of Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, TX medical mission. The Operating Room, Brooke Army Medical Center requires the purchase of a new CO2 Laser System, components and biomedical equipment maintenance training. This purchase will be a total small business set-aside. Laser surgery involves cutting or treating tissue with an intense, concentrated beam of light. Laser beams vaporize target tissue by evaporating the water inside its cells. Due to its unique physical characteristics, CO2 laser energy is used by surgeons because it provides high precision and control during surgery. Solicitation will be issued o/a 24 February 2011.
