- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for Erbium Doped Optical Fiber Amplifier. Thisequipment has a unique combination of required features/specifications:Input Optical Pulse 5 μJ - 10 μJ (typical) Desired Operating Wavelength: 1530nmOutput Pulse Width > 100ns (up to 1μs desired)Output Spectral Bandwidth < 5 MHz (for 100 ns pulse width)Repetition Rate 8 kHzOutput Peak Power > 1 kW per pulseOutput Pulse Energy 100 μJ (typical) (up to 200 μJ desired)Average Output Power 1 W (minimum), (up to 2 W desired)Polarization Extinction Ratio (PER) > 15 dB (typical), > 10 dB (minimum)Optical Transport Fiber Length from Front Panel 0.5 mInput Termination Optical Connector PM FC/APCOutput Termination End Cap (Angle 8 +/- 0.5 degree)Output Mode Single ModeNASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from NP Photonics pursuant to FAR 13.106 for theacquisition of supplies or services determine to be reasonably from one source. NPPhotonics has already built and successfully delivered a pre-amplifier that was used inthe airborne campaign in 2010. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities statement to perform the effortin writing to the identified point of contact not later than 2:30 p.m. local time onFebruary 25, 2011. Such statements will be evaluated solely for the purpose ofdetermining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.Adetermination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.
