- Industry Day Registration Form Notice Type: Special Notice Air Force Uniform Office Industry Days (22-25 March 2011) Announcement The Air Force Uniform Office (AFUO) is hosting a four-day Industry Day event March 22-25, 2011 to provide interested companies an opportunity to meet with Air Force representatives, ask questions about Air Force processes, and present new products and/or improvements to existing products that each company believes will benefit the Air Force. The AFUO is an integrated product team of the Aircrew Performance Branch at Wright Patterson AFB, OH with responsibility for the design, development, test and sustainment of AF uniforms. The AFUO presides over all aspects of uniforms including cold weather, footwear, physical training, and fire resistant uniforms. Members of industry are invited to attend and speak with AFUO Program Managers and Technical Team Members about capabilities, products and emerging technologies. Only Berry compliant materials/capabilities or Berry waivered materials and information should be submitted. The AFUO has no funded requirements in our programs at this time. Industry Day will occur on a bi-annual basis and is currently limited to the first 40 respondents. Respondents 41 and on will receive first priority at the next Industry Day. Respondents will be given 50 minutes with the Technical Team and Project Manager to make a presentation and address any questions. FIRESAFE - The AFUO is interested to know what is being developed in the FR industry. We are always eager to see new technology. Cold Weather/Outerwear - The AFUO is nearing the end of its research phase in the Cold Weather and Outerwear Initiative. This phase will end in May 2011 when the results of an Air Force-wide survey will be delivered to the AFUO. The overarching goal of this survey is to expose capability gaps in current products and to better understand end user needs. Boots (Flyers) - The AFUO is continuing work on its Safe-to-Fly process. Initial submissions for Safe-to-Fly (STF) certifications were temperate weather boots; however, the AFUO is currently exploring options to include hot and cold weather variants as well. Boots (Industrial) - The AFUO is scheduled to receive additional samples of Industrial Boots to certify in March 2011. As with the Flyer's Boots, the AFUO is currently exploring options to accept hot and cold weather variants of the Industrial Boot. Alaska Work Group - The AFUO is seeking arctic-condition concept products and/or materials for pilots of ejection seat aircraft. Concepts should include aircrew equipment such as fire-resistant (FR) base layers, secondary layers, sleeping bags, gloves, and boots. These products need to integrate with existing flight equipment (G-suit, survival vest, etc.) and may need to comply with other flight safety criteria. The following is a conceptual application of interested items: A pilot begins pre flight operations which take place inside a hangar, outside condition are 10°F with mild wind conditions (temperature <0°F). The pilot experiences technical difficulties and is forced to eject. The pilot is then subjected to a 10+ minute decent in sub zero temperature (>-20°F). Upon reaching the ground, the pilot will need to survive for 72 hours in temperatures reaching -50°F. Additional factors to consider are glove tactility, pack ability, and interaction with existing flight/survival equipment. No registration fees will apply. Each company is welcome to have two representatives. If more are required, please contact the POC listed below. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS NOT A NOTICE OF SOLICITATION ISSUANCE. THIS IS A NOTICE FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY. Any formal solicitations will be announced separately. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information provided in response to this Notice. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION OR REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. No solicitation document exists. Please see attached Industry Day Registration Form. Please send the registration form via email to Kris Dodds at kristina.dodds.ctr@wpafb.af.mil or fax to 937-656-4318. Directions and area information will be supplied upon registration. The U.S. Government will not reimburse any Party attending or participating for costs incurred for this event.
