Description
1. GENERAL - The work consists of the contractor furnishing all personnel, labor, plant,equipment, materials, supplies and travel necessary to perform the clearing of vegetation from levees in support of surveys. 2. LOCATION OF WORK - The work area is located adjacent to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) in Brazoria County, Texas as shown on Exhibit A. The specific work sites are Placement Areas 88 and 89. Placement Area 88 is accessible by land. Placement Area 89 is only accessible by water. 3. PURPOSE OF WORK - To provide vegetation clearing necessary to collect crosssection and topographic survey data using GPS. 4. SITE VISIT - The contractor's representative and the Galveston District representative, Mr. Jose Moreno, will visit the site prior to work being started, to view access to the work sites and the work sites in general. 5. RIGHTS OF ENTRY - All of the proposed areas are available by virtue of perpetual easements held by the government; therefore no rights of entry are known to be required for this project. 6. WORK TO BE PERFORMED - The work shall consist of clearing vegetation and brush, sufficient to obtain topographic survey data and insure that the cross-section line is clearly visible. A minimum width of 8 feet must be cleared, with debris pushed to either side of the cleared path, burning of debris is prohibited. Any levees disturbed during clearing shall be graded and returned to its existing contours. Work will include clearing along the centerline of levees, to include training levees, and at each cross-section line. Placement Area 88 has approimately 50,000 total linear of clearing required and Placement Area 89 jas approximately 100,000 total linear feet of clearing required.
