Description
Specification for a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst Filter for Underground Equipment at the Nevada National Security Site •1.0 Scope •1.1 These specifications define the minimum performance requirements for the procurement of a diesel oxidation catalyst type filter system to reduce the harmful emissions for up to 12 pieces of equipment on the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS), Mercury, Nevada approximately 60 miles north of Las Vegas, Nevada. •1.2 Mines and tunnels at the NNSS are located in areas up to 7000 feet elevation with average annual above ground temperatures ranging from 0 to 115F. Travel distances approximately 20 - 40 miles from the Mercury Base Camp. •1.3 Mines and tunnels are classified as non-gassy, non-coal. •1.4 Diesel powered equipment utilized underground at the NNSS includes locomotives, 1-3yd LHDs, forklifts, Bobcat excavator, and compressors. Typical duty cycles are low to medium with some times of high usage. •2.0 Performance •2.1 Filter system shall reduce Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM) by 90-98% for particles greater than 0.5 microns, for total carbon and hydrocarbon. •2.2 Conversion of CO to CO2. •2.2.1 Greater than 90% efficient during normal operation at normal operating temperatures. •2.2.2 Greater than 50% efficient at exhaust temperatures below 210F. •2.3 NOx Concentrations •2.3.1 Overall NOx emissions shall remain the same or decrease. •2.3.2 Minimal increase of NO emissions is permissible. •3.0 Physical Features •3.1 Filter system to be sized to fit the engines. •3.2 Filter system to not increase the exhaust back pressure on the equipment. •3.3 Fully passive operation, requiring no fuel injection systems, heat exchangers, or external heat sources to "cook" away build up in the system (no active regeneration). •3.4 Filter system shall not require the installation of lights or sensors on the equipment for proper operation. •3.5 Filter system to have maintenance free operation for at least 7000 hours of operation, if manufacturer's requirements are followed. •3.6 Capable of operation in the environments described in section 1.0 •3.7 Filter system to require minimal equipment modifications for installation. 4.0 Systems: 1 each: FILTER FOR DUETZ NODEL F6L912/N, DIESEL ENGINE ON #72322 JUMBO. 89 HP @ 2300 RMP, 3" O.D. EXHAUST, 1 Each: FILTER FOR DETROIT DIESEL 8.2L FUEL PINCHER, ON 74289 WIGGINS 10 TON FORKLIFT, 180 HP @3000 RPM, 4" O.D. EXHAUST Other units: Muckers •· Bobcat •· Locomotive •· Compressor •· Rock bolter •· Forklift Interested parties shall provide doucmentation showing that their equiment meets the above specificatons.
