Description
RFQ545654: GSA Supply Chain Modernization RFI for a Warehouse Management System RFQ545654: GSA Supply Chain Modernization RFI for a Warehouse Management System The Federal Acquisition Service (FAS), General Services Administration (GSA), is undertaking an initiative to modernize the supply chain capabilities of its Office of General Supplies and Services (GSS). GSS is adopting a new business model to provide variable levels of service depending on the needs of its customers. This new strategy, and a desire for greater business agility, is driving the need for GSS to leverage best practices in supply chain management and to update its current legacy information systems environment. Supply chain systems modernization is a key part of the strategic initiative sup-porting GSS’s business goal to become more agile, flexible, and competitive as a supply chain provider. GSS has determined that the best approach for systems modernization is to use a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution rather than transforming legacy systems. GSS is also considering Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) for the solution. GSS intends to transition from the legacy application environment to this new systems environment by 2014. GSA is interested in establishing an information technology (IT) environment that provides end-to-end support for supply chain planning and execution. COTS software suites from single vendors may provide capabilities to support many of the supply chain business requirements. However, GSA realizes that a “best-of-breed” solution may provide even greater capabilities in critical functional areas, while enabling data visibility and interoperability through the use of standards-based communications protocols. GSA is issuing this request for information (RFI) to obtain information and sources for a COTS software solution for ware-house management that will support GSS’s business requirements and will enable integrated end-to-end business processes.
