- GENERAL / MECHANICAL / PLUMBING CONTRACTORS SOUGHT Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, responses to the University's prequalification documents for a Lump Sum construction Subcontract are sought for the following project: Building 37, Low Conductivity Water (LCW) Pump Replacement Project Number 972 To be performed at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory One Cyclotron Road Berkeley, CA 94720 Prequalification of Prospective Bidders:The University has determined that firms who submit bids on this project must be prequalified. Prequalified bidders will be required to have a valid California contractor's license appropriate for the type of work involved. General / Mechanical / Plumbing: B and/or C-10 and/or C-20 and/or C-36 or a combination of Contractor's Licenses as required for the scope of work. General Description of Work: Provide all labor, material, tools and equipment to complete all work as described in the plans and specifications. The scope of work includes: Remove, demolish and legally salvage five (5) existing 600 GPM low conductivity water (LCW) pumps and replace with five (5) new, pre-purchased (furnished by others), 780 GPM, 100 hp LCW pumps. The work involves removing, demolishing and legally salvaging five (5) existing VFD motor controllers and replacing with five (5) new VFDs; removing, demolishing and legally salvaging existing control system and furnishing and installing and make operational a new ALC control system; furnishing and installing new flow meters / sensors; furnishing and installing new 1"-12" SS piping flanges, valves, fittings and supports; SS welding, testing and cleaning of LCW piping according to all LBNL certification requirements; scheduling with LBNL building 37 LCW system's shutdowns; installing all material according to new seismic details i.e. pump's, pump pad's, piping, VFD supports, etc.; installing new vibration details to mitigate vibration transfer to building 6. Project completion includes proper operation of LCW pumps, VFD's, ALC controls, including final construction inspection; meeting all LBNL contractor safety requirements, and site cleanup, All work must be completed during a five (5) week building shut down period beginning June 15, 2011. This schedule may require after hours and/or weekend work. Commissioning will be performed by others. All work is within and adjacent to existing occupied buildings and prior similar construction experience is required. Prequalification Package Due Date: Completed prequalification packages are due in original and three copies, three hole punched, by March 9, 2011 delivered to the address shown below. Non-Set Aside Project: The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this procurement is 238220, Plumbing, Heating, and Air-Conditioning Contractors. The corresponding small business size standard for this acquisition is $14 million or less. Annual receipts are to be based on the gross annual revenue for the past three complete fiscal years. Estimated Price Range: The estimated price range for this project is between $205,000 and $400,000. Performance Period: The On-Site Work is expected to begin June 15, 2011. The Base Work construction period is five (5) weeks, or 35 calendar days.
