Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Arlington National Cemetery requests that a Iron railed entrance way gate be removed from its bearings, and brackets, to facilitate a repair which would restore the gate to "as new" condition, and then reinstalled and checked for proper operation. The repair will include,( but not be limited to, )straightening all vertical and horizontal parts of the gate stock. This will possibly require cutting out and welding new material in sections where the metal is deformed. The deformed gate is one part of a double gate system, and must be repaired in such a way as to continue to mirror the other side of the gate. The gate is attached to a stone post by four (4), U-shaped brackets that have lost metal material due to age and wear. These brackets will need to be repaired or replaced, and new bearings installed "if needed", to return the gate to its proper non sagging aspect. While the gate is being repaired, the Contractor shall place a temporary and securable gate, (or fence), in the space the gate was removed from. The gate is composed of iron or mild steel round vertical posts, and squared stock frame, straight across the bottom of the gate, and curved at the top highest point down to the horizontal end of the top of the gate. The highest point of the gate is approximately 129' tall on one end, curved down to approximately 89' on the other end. The gate is approximately 199' wide and has a horizontal flat separator piece approximately 40" from the bottom. For a site visit or further information contact Haydee SotoCarreras at 703-428-0670.
