- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for software to calculate magnetic fields. BACKGROUND INFORMATION Software to calculate magnetic fields The following list summarizes the minimum specification of the software: Two licenses, such that the program can be run on two computers simultaneously. The software must run on Windows XP (32 bit) on computers with the following hardware profiles: 1 GB memory Intel Duo Core CPU 1.60 GHz or single core 3.0 GHz 100 GB Hard disk Onboard graphics card The software should calculate magnetic fields for two and three dimensional structures. The software calculates the magnetic fields of DC current distributions and permanent magnetic materials with yokes and a mixture of both. The software shall display the strength of the magnetic field of the geometry; it should calculate the forces and torques between elements and on current carrying wire; it should allow the calculation of impedance, inductance, and capacitance The software should allow the user to move parts of the model on prescribed trajectory (including rotation) and should be able to compute induced voltages. The software should handle nonlinear, i.e. hysteretic material correctly. The possibility to compute Eddy currents, winding losses and hysteresis losses is desired. User should be able to create easily custom and complex coil windings. The software should allow the user to specify a path on which the magnetic field strength will be tabulated. The software should include a one year maintenance contract with user support. A library of common magnetic materials should be included. The software must have the flexibility to enter additional magnetic materials. The program should come with a graphical interface and the possibility to record, replay and program scripts. Import of CAD drawing should be supported. The user should be able to influence the mesh size of the model. The software should allow the link to third party software such as Excel. The software should allow the user to parameterize any quantities and can be varied through a user-specified range of values. Technical evaluation Criteria: A demo version of the program should be installed on two computers to check if the software meets or exceeds the specifications above with priority given to the software's scripting capabilities. Section 508 compliant does apply The Government anticipates the award of a firm-fixed- price purchase order. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations; however, companies that believe they can fulfill the requirement may provide a written response to this notice and provide clear and unambiguous evidence to substantiate that capability. A determination by the Government whether to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competition.
