Description
The purpose of this amendment is to change the offer due date to 2/25/2011 at 1200 PS. Amendment 0001 - Notice of Intent, 0040003676, G11PS00113 The U.S. Geological (USGS), Alaska Science Center, has a requirement for Services, Non-Personal, to provide all labor, tools, personnel, and management necessary to provide for 20 Locus Genotypes for 808 Each, Polar Bear Samples and 212 Each, Polar Bear Tissue Samples, in accordance with the Statement of Work. The Government intends to award this requirement noncompetitively IAW FAR 13.106-1(b), (1), to Wildlife Genetics International (WGI), Nelson, BC, Canada, for unique Polar Bear tissue sample genotyping. The contractor has previously genotyped USGS Alaska Science Center polar bear samples and also a large number of tissue samples from polar bears collected by Canadian researchers. It is critical for the research that the entire database of genetic information is internally consistent, and an important component of our research requires that our data be directly comparable with similar data collected by USGS and other Polar Bear researchers. To our knowledge, there are no other efforts made to standardize the 20 loci listed: G1A, G10B, G10C, G1D, G10H, G10J, G10M, MU50, MU59, G10P, G10U, G10X, CXX110, CXX20, CXX173, REN145P07, Mu51, Msut2, and CPH9. For the subset of 212 bears whose sex is unknown, the contractor will also determine their sex using a genetic sex marker. Other interested concerns having the ability to furnish these services shall submit a capabilities statement to the Contracting Officer no later than the closing date of this announcement. All submissions will be evaluated to determine if competitive opportunities exist. This is not an RFQ. This does represent the Government's only written notice of this procurement. All responsible sources may submit a response which if timely received, must be considered by the agency. All questions and requests regarding this procurement shall be in writing, and addressed to Cheryl Fitch at cfitch@usgs.gov no later than 2/23/2011.
