Description

PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE The Service Area Office (SAO) Western Region, VISN 19 Rocky Mountain Consolidated Acquisition Center is seeking to enter into a contract to provide Autopsy Assistant Service on behalf of the Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS), Denver Veterans Affairs Medical Center Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service (P&LMS). The Contractor will be required to furnish all necessary labor, supervision and equipment to provide one Autopsy Assistant to perform Autopsy Deining Service and Tissue Waste Dumping and Removal, in order to fulfill the P&LMS duties. Services shall include, but may not be limited to (1) Deiner (autopsy assistance) service, and (2) human tissue pick-up and disposal for Laboratory Service. Service will include collecting, processing and disposing of biohazardous/formalin fixed waste, fresh waste and Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) waste which requires incineration of tissue and chemical waste in accordance with all state and federal regulations; also they shall be required to assist pathologist/residents with autopsies. The Contractor shall be required to perform the cleaning and disinfecting procedures in accordance with the ECHCS policies which will be attached to the solicitation. The Contractor shall also be required to have the knowledge and be familiar with the aspects of providing tissue pick-up and disposal in accordance with Colorado Department of Health Solid Waste Regulations, EPA regulations) and DOT regulatory requirements at an approved EPA incinerator. This is a request for proposal and a solicitation will be posted to FedBizOpps on or about February 24, 2011. No solicitations will be issued by this office nor will requests for proposals be honored. Offerors shall review and download the solicitation from the FedBizOpps website at www.fbo.gov. All questions shall be directed to the Contracting Officer, in writing at Edward.Marshburn@va.gov.
