- Description
- NASA Ames Research Center has a requirement for a one-year Service MaintenanceAgreement for one FEI XL30 environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) system. TheXL30 ESEM is an advanced imaging system requiring periodic routine maintenance andupgrades that are essential to maintain optimal function of the equipment. NASA Ames Research Center intends to purchase this service from FEI Company of Hillsboro,OR 97124 under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b), One source reasonably available. FEI isthe OEM provider and has uniquely qualified personnel to maintain and service thisinstrument. The service maintenance agreement shall include the following: 1) Specifically trainedpersonnel who are qualified technicians for the XL30 ESEM imaging system; 2) Labor,travel and replacement parts, including system software and/or software upgrades asrequired; 3) Two scheduled maintenances per contract period, includes ordinary repairsand adjustments arising from normal usage, including a compliance review of theequipment, cleaning and alignment as necessary; 4) Emergency repair service as required;5) Telephone support. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the procurementwill be conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth under FAR Part 13. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 1:00 p.m. Pacifictime on March 10, 2011. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
