- The intended contract action is for acquisition of facilities and services for theLunabotics Mining Competition (LMC), Award and Reception ceremonies at the KSC VisitorsComplex May 16, 2011 through June 1, 2011.NASA/KSC intends to purchase the items from Delaware North Companies Park & Resorts atKSC Inc (DNC), Mail Code: DNPS, Kennedy Space Center, FL 32899-0001.This procurement is to provide the necessary facilities and services for the LunaboticsMining Competition, awards Ceremony and Reception.Scope of work:The LMC consists of an opening ceremony, competition, and awards ceremonyand dinner, and will take place over the following performance period:May 16, 2011through June 1, 2011. The Contractor shall provide the Lunabotics area, stage, andaudio/visual support at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex (KSCVC), and the awardsceremony at the Apollo/Saturn V Center (ASVC) for the LMC for not to exceed 500 guests. The Contractor shall provide support for the events to: provide exhibit booths insideKSCVC, LunaPits (work areas) for teams; ensure adequate audio/visual support inpreparation for the opening ceremony, competition, and awards ceremony; provide overnightsecurity for the tents so that the teams can work, as needed, 24 hours per day on theirLunabots; security for Lunarena after hours; and provide complimentary tickets for theKSC Visitor Complex for all participants and NASA staff during the event.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:00 p.m. local timeon March 1, 2011. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.
