THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR PROBEPOSITIONING SYSTEM. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. Thisnotice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendmentwill not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to provide answers to the following submitted questions:1. What weight load is moving (less the table weights)? Our supplier is assuming theload will be on the theta axis. Load size? Will the load be cantilevered (CG)?As specified in the solicitation, the weight load minimum is 20 lbs. (50 lbs. capabilitypreferred). The load will be centered on the theta axis with weight roughly evenlydistributed on a 2-foot beam in the same orientation as the Z-axis stage.2. Any external thrust forces? No external forces.3. Attached sketch? This matches the desired orientation.4. What type of vacuum rating? Attached is a vacuum rating checklist. There aredifferent checklists depending on the vacuum rating.? The stage should be prepared for the highest vacuum rating possible. The components usedshould be compliant with a hard vacuum in the 10^-8 to 10^-7 Torr range withoutoutgassing.5. The encoders will be able to make up for some of this, but what accuracy andresolution constraints are required on each axis? The resolution constraints (step size) and accuracy for each stage are detailed in thesolicitation.6. Duty cycle? The system must be capable of a minimum 10,000 cycles on each axis. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended.Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASAAcquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on February 15, 2011.
