Description
THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. THERE WILL NOT BE A SOLICITATION, SPECIFICATIONS, OR DRAWINGS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic is seeking eligible small business firms capable of performing construction services for MILCON Project P862, Pier 1 Upgrades to Berth USNS Comfort, Naval Station Norfolk, Norfolk, Virginia. The project includes the demolition of portions of the existing concrete pier in various locations (total demolition area equals approximately 3,500 square feet). The demolition includes portions of the concrete deck, concrete pile bents, concrete piles, steam piping, water piping, sanitary piping, oily waste/waste oil piping, electrical conduit, primary and secondary electrical feeders, communication cabling, CATV cabling, timber chocks and wales, and timber fender piles. The demolition work also includes the abatement of existing steam piping insulation which contains asbestos and the removal of utility steel protective cages which are coated with lead containing paint. The new work includes construction of two integrated mooring platforms and a number of breasting structures which consist of concrete piles, concrete decking, mooring bollards, and the repair of sections of the utilities required to be temporarily removed to facilitate this work. The new work also includes providing timber chocks and wales, and the installation of salvaged timber fender piles in areas of the existing fender system removed in order to facilitate the construction of the mooring platforms. The project will not require any dredging. The pier will be closed to naval operations during this work. The project will require stringent environmental compliance and protective measures throughout demolition and new construction. The target award range for this project is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. Please see attached file for further instructions.
