- Description
- Amendment 0001 is hereby issued to respond to questions to Request for Information G11PS00108Data Processing System for Time Series Water Data - Answers to questions: Question: Is USGS looking for a software it can install inside its network or would it be open to a hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) solution that meets federal security requirements? Answer:For the purposes of the RFI the USGS would like to review all potential solutions, so as to better inform us for any later RFP. Question:If this RFI results in a procurement strategy, what is the rough time frame for acquisition? Answer:Unknown at this time. Question: It appears that the USGS is looking for an out of the box solution, is this a correct assumption? Can a custom developed solution be proposed? Answer:While an existing solution is preferred, we are not precluding a custom solution at this time. The response to this request for information will help inform us as to the best route forward. Question: The RFI mentions legacy systems are you free to tell us what systems (database, other software) are currently being used? Answer:The primary legacy system is ADAPS. A publically available copy of the user manual can be found here:http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2003/ofr03123/This fact sheet shows how ADAPS fits into the entire NWIS system:http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/FS-027-98/The database is currently Ingres, although we are in the process of moving to Oracle and should complete that in 2012. Question:Is the desired application part of a full data management solution? i.e. is there a need for database design, data transfer/authentication tools, data warehouse, etc. or is it limited to the data visualization/processing software? Answer:The need is primarily for visualization/processing software, however we are open to an alternative database structure should it be required to implement a new software solution or to optimize performance. Question:What is you support requirement? 24/7 phone support, on-site training, etc. Answer: This has yet to be determined. Since we provide our own support now, we may be interested to continue primary user support and training in-house. At this time we don't anticipate requiring 24/7 phone support. Question:Do you require a web-enabled software solution? AnswerNo. End of Questions and Answers
