- SOLICITATION NUBER: N/A NOTICE TYPE: Sources Sought SYNOPSIS: THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. THE PURPOSE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY. RESPONSES TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE USED BY THE GOVERNMENT TO MAKE APPROPRIATE ACQUISITION DECISIONS. A SUBSEQUENT SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT MAY FOLLOW. RESPONSES TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED AS AN ADEQUATE RESPONSE TO ANY FUTURE ANNOUNCEMENT. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The Portland / Vancouver VA Medical Centers are conducting market research to seek local small business sources to provide temporary Ophthalmic and Optical Technician services. Services are needed at the Portland VA Medical Center, Vancouver VA Medical Center, and possibly other CBOCs as determined. The services of the Ophthalmic Technicians shall be but are not limited to providing diagnostic and therapeutic medical care and services under the guidance of the Ophthalmology Staff (i.e. conducting and documenting specific clinical information derived from history taking and examination procedures). The services of the Optical Technicians shall be but are not limited to providing the services of a dispensing Optician (i.e. assisting eligible veterans with selection of frames for eyeglasses, measurement of papillary distances, measurement of multifocal heights, adjustment of eyeglasses and repair). All small business sources for providing of these services are being sought. STATEMENT REGARDING SOURCE SOCIO-ECONOMIC CONSIDERATIONS: The purpose of this notice is to perform market research to determine if there is interest from the following socio-economic categories: Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB), HUB Zone, Small Disadvantaged Business (8a), Woman Owned Small Business, Small Business, or other. STATEMENT REGARDING RESPONSE ACTION: Contractors responding to this Sources Sought Notice need to provide the following information to Derek Frizzell, Contracting Officer, via email to Derek.Frizzell@va.gov by no later than 12:00pm pacific time on Friday 18 March 2011: Company Name, Address, Phone Number, Point of Contact & phone number / email address, Teaming Arrangements (i.e. subcontracts) and Socioeconomic Status. A determination by the Government to compete the proposed procurement based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice does not constitute a solicitation or a commitment by the Government to later publish a solicitation. No solicitation document is available. THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION, OR SOURCES SOUGHT SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUED AS A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS OR OFFERS. INFORMATION IS TO BE PROVIDED ON A VOLUNTARY BASIS.
