- Description
- THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS (VA) DENVER, ACQUISITION & LOGISTICS CENTER (DALC) IS REQUESTING INFORMATION ON AUDIBLE PRESCRIPTION READING DEVICES (APRD's). The VA will be hosting an Industry Day for manufacturers of APRD's April 12 and 13, 2011 in Washington, DC. An APRD is a device designed to assist with the independent management of medications for people who require an auditory device to assure the safe use of their medications. The device should employ speech-output to provide all information a Veteran requires to identify any medication, and to provide instructions for taking it at the correct time and dosage. An APRD should function to assist the veteran in understanding the indications and contraindications of the medication, and to assist the Veteran in complying with the medication regimen. The purpose for this meeting is to allow APRD manufacturers the opportunity to present an informative presentation on their device(s) and commercial practices, such as warranty, ordering, etc. The audience will be Government individuals involved with the APRD Integrated Product Team (IPT) such as representatives from Prosthetics and Sensory Aids, Blind Rehabilitation, Pharmacy Benefits Management, Optometry, Ophthalmology, Engineering, Acquisition, and a representative from the Blinded Veterans Association. Manufacturers will be given one hour to present and answer questions from the group. Sales or promotional information should not be presented. Interested parties should contact Gail A Hixon, Contracting Officer, via email gail.hixon@va.gov no later than March 21, 2011. Please identify the company you are representing and a point of contact to which information can be directed. A scheduled date and time will be coordinated with the point of contact, along with additional instructions. This Request for Information (RFI) is issued solely for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation. All information received in response to this RFI that is marked as proprietary will be handled accordingly. In accordance with FAR 15.201(e), responses to this RFI are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Responders are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this notice.
