Description
Provide all design and engineering services in accordance with the design build(DB) Request For Proposal (RFP) to construct an earth covered (7 BAR) Type-C magazine that meets the storage and handling requirements of MK-48 torpedoes. A Type C magazine is a pre approved design. This project will construct a magazine capable of storing up to 42 MK 48 torpedoes. The magazine project will include a bituminous access road and apron area to allow delivery of torpedoes via ordnance delivery truck to the magazine and off-loading via forklift directly into the magazine. Magazine construction will be steel reinforced concrete with steel blast resistant magazine doors and shall be in accordance with NOSSA and Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board (DDESB) approved criteria. Construction also includes site preparation, pile foundation, lightning protection, and electrical distribution including a new transformer, a new emergency generator, area/security lighting, and intrusion detection system, relocation of fencing, new fencing, drainage and demolition of Keyport Magazines (63). Additional site work will include the bituminous expansion of the area in front of existing tomahawk magazine, A113, to allow delivery of tomahawk missiles via ordnance delivery truck and offloading via forklift directly into the magazine. A113 improvements include bituminous pavement for the load/unload pad area and any necessary site improvements (fence, drainage, grading, relocate utilities, security systems, etc.). Scope shall also include all necessary site improvements, new bituminous road pavement construction for access to new magazine, widening existing ordnance road, new drainage facilities(LID) and modifications to existing storm drainage system as related to new Magazine Facility construction. The facility will receive three 9,000 lbs capacity each, ordnance handling, bridge cranes, to be awarded under separate contract, by Navy Crane Center, to a crane DB company. Coordination efforts will be required by each contractor for the installation of the cranes prior to base contract BOD.
