Description
Copmmercialization Plan in doc format Subject: Request for Proposals for Training and Distribution of the AUTONOMIE Software for Electric Vehicle Modeling Multiple companies have indicated a strong interest in being able to provide training and to become a distributor for the AUTONOMIE software. Argonne is in the R&D business and will continue to develop additional capabilities in hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and all electric vehicles (EVs). However, training and licensing activities have drained efforts from the R&D activities, and Argonne would like to spinoff the training and software licensing activities to commercial organizations. As a refresher, AUTONOMIE is a plug-and-play powertrain and vehicle model architecture and development environment to support the rapid evaluation of new powertrain/propulsion technologies for improving fuel economy, under dynamic/transient testing conditions, through virtual design and analysis in a math-based simulation environment. Because building hardware is expensive, traditional design paradigms in the automotive industry often delay control system design until late in the process - in some cases requiring several costly hardware iterations. Thus, greater emphasis be placed on modeling and simulation to reduce costs and improve time-to-market. There appears to be a worldwide interest in modeling hybrid vehicles and Argonne has over 150 licensees and an estimated 800 users for AUTONOMIE, and interest in training and help-desk inquiries is rapidly increasing. Argonne sees as a good market opportunity for worldwide support of hybrid vehicles which will only increase as oil prices inch higher and higher, with automotive and truck manufacturing growing across the world. Argonne is seeking Licensees who have the ability and commitment to maximize the commercialization of AUTONOMIE worldwide. A commercialization and licensing package must be completed. Argonne requires a commercialization plan from prospective licensees before licensing AUTONOMIE. Please completely answer all the questions on the form. The information you provide will be the basis for the license terms that Argonne will propose for the licensing agreement. This information is business confidential and will be held confidential by Argonne. Argonne will consider both existing and startup companies. After licensing, R&D improvements in AUTONOMIE will continue to be made by Argonne and provided to the distributor(s). No decisions for Argonne to spinoff the R&D of AUTONOMIE will be made for about 4-5 years. The Distributor will only provide only the executable code for distribution. Distributors are expected to keep the AUTONOMIE pricing the same, and not rise, for at least six months after an agreement is reached. Training pricing is expected to meet current commercial standards. Argonne will hold a morning summary and question and answer session on this RFP on March 29, 2011 at Argonne. Please call the Argonne Technology Commercialization and Development (TDC) Division, Ms. Karen Neuman, at 630-252-9124 or 800-627-2596 to register for this session. The final proposals, addressing the above criteria, as well as the commercialization plan, must be submitted to the TDC on or before April 22, 2011. A winner will be selected and announced on May 23, 2011. The licensing agreements, and work-for- others agreements are expected by July 8, 2011.Please contact me, Paul Betten, at tel: (630) 252-4962,f you have any questions or wish to sign up for the AUTONOMIE RFP conference on March 29, 2011. Please contact me if you cannot download the commercialization worksheet.
