- PAYETTE NATIONAL FOREST TREE PLANTING 2011 -- IN APPROXIMATELY 1 DAY, THE SOLICITATION FOR THIS COMMERCIAL SERVICE PROJECT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO VIEW AND PRINT. It is the purpose of this contract to secure services for Hoedad Tree planting on Council, Weiser, New Meadows and McCall Ranger Districts on Payette National Forest Lands, Government-furnished tree seedlings. Tree seedlings will be delivered from the District tree cooler to the planting units in accordance with the provisions of this solicitation. Services will also include Grays Creek Fire Planting in Subitem A (MF 540 and MF 537) and Grays Creek Fire Planting in Subitem B (SL 250 A-D, SL 250 G, and GC 08) were burned in the 2007 Grays Creek Wildfire. Of the five Grays Creek Planting units, four of the units are walk-in. In addition, three of the four Mann Creek planting units are walk-in units. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, supplies (except those designated as Government-furnished), and incidentals to perform all work necessary to plant tree seedlings on the areas specified. LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION Sub item A for 501 acres includes 80 acres of creek bottoms (riparian) burned over within the 2007 Grays Creek Wildfire on the Council RD. The remaining 421 acres composed of planting harvested areas on Council, Weiser, New Meadows, and McCall Ranger Districts. Sub item A planting units within Anderson Creek, Mann Creek, Bear Tornado, Upper Weiser, and Upper Bear Replacement timber sales were harvested in the last three to five years. The planting units within the Grays Creek Fire Area, Subitem A, were not salvaged logged. There are more snags and burned trees present in these planting units and a potential for blowdown or falling debris can occur especially in windy conditions. Sub item B, 103 acres in Grays Creek planting units were salvage logged in 2008. There are still numerous snags and burned trees present in these planting units and a potential for blowdown or falling debris can occur especially in windy conditions. Refer to project maps for location to units. CONTRACT TIME WILL BE 22 days with an estimated start date of April 25, 2011.
