- Description
- It is the National Energy Technology Laboratory's (NETL) intent to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to FEI Company to purchase the renewal of the annual service maintenance agreement for the NETL-owned CM200 Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope Serial Number D753. Exact replacement parts must be utilized in order to assure continued reliable and satisfactory operation of the manufacturer's unit. To assure satisfactory operation of the equipment, the replacement parts must be obtained from the original equipment manufacturer or its representative. The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) maintains proprietary information on the systems designs, service procedures, electron optics, attachments, and calibrations methods; therefore the OEM is the only capable vendor to provide this service. FEI will not guarantee the performance of the instrument unless the service is done by their trained staff. No other known vendor can provide the specific mainten ance for this product which could satisfy the agency's need for the continued operation of the equipment. FEI Company is the only vendor that can supply the required annual maintenance renewal. This is not a formal solicitation. This synopsis is not considered a request for quotation or proposal. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency. Challenges must demonstrate the capability to provide all of the attached listed specifications for the item being requested. If no challenges to acquire this item are received by 17:30 PM ET on April 6, 2011, the government reserves the right to execute an award without publishing a solicitation. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed award based on this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
