- NASA/JSC has a requirement for aluminum plates of 3003-O per American Society forTesting Materials (ASTM) B209 (Qty: 1, Lot), a rotary flow control valve (Qty: 1, Each),and a rotary valve ball (Qty: 1, Each).NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from Hamilton Sundstrand Space SystemsInternational, Inc., under contract NNJ10HB94C.The rectangular and cylindrical rapid cycle amine (RCA) canister and valve development isin support of the space suit Portable Life Support Systems (PLSS) with horizontallyaligned amine bed layers to provide real-time control of CO2 and humidity. The aluminumper ASTM B209 are required to manufacture the RCA prototypes. To complete the design of acylindrical PLSS sized amine swing bed. The current contract, NNJ10HB94C, provides theconfiguration for a cylindrical and rectangular RCA canister. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon April 05, 2011. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.
