Description

SYNOPSIS: This is a Notice of Intent to negotiate and award a contract with DURA MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, INC. of Hialeah, FL on a Sole Source basis. This notice is issued solely for informational and planning purposes and does NOT constitute a solicitation. This notice is being provided in accordance with FAR Part 5.201(b)(1)(i) and FAR Part 6.302-1(d)(2). The required services include delivery and pick-up, receiving, storage, set-up and assembly, take-down, disassembly, installation, instructions, sanitizing, repair and maintenance of VA owned DME to eligible VA beneficiaries as required by the West Palm Beach and Miami VA Healthcare System. This short term contract is needed to avoid a break in service, as the current contract will expire on 01 April. A long term follow-on contract is currently being processed, and anticipated to be awarded by 01 July 2011. Durable Medical Equipment Inc. is currently providing these services, and is the only source capable of providing these services without an unacceptable break in this critical service. The period of performance of this Sole Source bridge contract will be from 01 April 2011 through 30 June 2011. Again, this notice is issued soley for informational and planning purposes and does NOT constitute a solicitation. Offerors interested in providing these services are encouraged to participate in the competitively awarded long term contract for which a solicitation will be forthcoming.
