- Description
- This is a Sources Sought Notification, for market research purposes only, and is not a Request for Proposal (RFP). A solicitation is not being issued at this time and this notice shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach. USSOCOM is seeking possible sources to provide advanced technologies in metal detection in support of various units and troops for USSOCOM. This technology should focus on assessing metal detector sensitivity, accuracy, weight, durability, battery life, size, and form factor. A desirable material solution would have the following characteristics: adjustable sensitivity from low to high which would be capable of quickly and easily adjusting to ambient conditions allowing a user to set the sensitivity based on the burial depth and size of the targeted object; improved accuracy of detecting only objects of the appropriate size and burial depth with few false positives (aka false alarms); compact and lightweight with a reduction in size of 20% over current detectors; durable enough to withstand transport via air, vehicle, or foot movement while stored in a standard, unprotected backpack; battery life should be at least 4-6 hours of operation using commercial batteries. Comparisons can be accomplished using the Schiebel for all metals or active systems and the Ebinger for ferrous metals or passive detection. **Comments on this NAICS Code and suggestions for alternatives must include supporting rationale. Parties that are interested are requested to submit a statement of capability outlining past work that is related to this requirement as stated above. The statement of capability shall include: I. Contractor Name a. Address b. Point of Contact (POC) c. POC phone number(s) and e-mail addresses d. Cage code II. Description of Relevant Contract Experience (Government and Commercial) a. Contract number(s) b. Description of the requirement c. POC for the requiring activity d. POC address, e-mail phone number(s), fax number and the company's web page, if applicable Contractors capable of providing this equipment should submit a Statement of Capabilities containing the above reference information via e-mail to john.paitson@socom.mil, the Contracting Officer. Any information provided by industry to the Government as a result of this Sources Sought Notice is strictly voluntary. Responses will not be returned. No entitlements to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges to the Government will arise as a result of contractor submission of responses, or the Government's use of such information. The information obtained from industry responses to this notice may be used in the development of an acquisition strategy and future RFP. Requests for additional information regarding this requirement must be emailed (in writing) and submitted to the Contracting Officer. Oral requests (e.g. phone call) for information will be re-directed to provide email correspondence, for documentation purposes.
