Description
This is an Expression of Interest to support Washington Closure Hanford (WCH) at the 618-11 Burial Ground (BG) for a weather enclosure. General/Historical Information: This BG is located near the Columbia Generating Station (CGS) Reactor Building. The BG Site is approximately 375 feet north-to-south and 1000 feet east-to-west, and consists of three slope sided trenches, 50 vertical pipe units, and three to five large caissons. The BG includes fission products, byproduct material (thorium and uranium), plutonium, and numerous known or suspected toxicologically hazardous material. This Site has permanently been closed for 40+ years. Scope of Work: Provide weather enclosure for conditions and terrain described below. The enclosure will accomodate excavators, waste characterization activities, dust suppression, and other activities required for remediation. The enclosure may require HEPA filtration, fire suppersion, lights, and other systems. Possible options for the enclosure may include, but not limited to: metal building with movable foundation/rail support, fabric structure, or K-Span type of structure. The enclosure will be required to enclose the remediation activities of the three trenches that each are 900 feet long, 50 feet wide, 25 feet deep. Terrain/Conditions: The area and surrounding area of this BG consists of uneven rough ground surface that is heavily vegitated with sagebrush, rabbit brush, and other low laying brush that will be removed prior to placement of the enclosure. The enclosure proposed may reduce the risk of contamination spread and impact to operations due to adverse weather. If your company has demonstrated the capability to provide said weather enclosure safely described above, please contact Doug Ordal by 04/14/2011, with your company information and a brief description of when and where your product has been safely and successfully demonstrated.
